Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery
The Bariatric Care Center has successfully renewed its status as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. Maintaining the Center of Excellence designation for our Bariatric Care Center indicates that we provide the highest standards of bariatric care. The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence® (BSCOE) program was established in 2004. The program's objective requirements and evaluation processes were developed in conjunction with leading bariatric surgeons, hospital administrators, health plans, researchers and patient advocates.
American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) Accreditation Program encourages hospitals, treatment centers, and other facilities to improve their quality of patient care through various cancer-related programs. These programs focus on prevention, early diagnosis, pre-treatment evaluation, staging, optimal treatment, rehabilitation, surveillance for recurrent disease, support services and end-of-life care.
American College of Radiology
The following services at the Brunswick Campus Department of Radiology are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR): mammography, stereotactic biopsy, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine. Nuclear medicine and mammography services at the Camden Campus Department of Radiology are also accredited by ACR, as are the ultrasound, computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging services at MRI & Imaging. The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. Image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field. The program also evaluates personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
