As a native Georgian, Guerry discovered Georgia's Atlantic Coast area in 1959 with the Macon, Georgia Y.M.C.A choir. He would make yearly trips to St. Simons Island in the spring and stay at Epworth by the Sea. In those days, the Casino was the place to be. It had a movie theater, skating on the 2nd floor, a pool and a beach that was there 24 hours a day. Fresh shrimp was $.79 a pound and the only seafood restaurant was the Deck, which was at the entrance to St. Simons on the causeway in Brunswick. Guerry continued his yearly visits for the next 40 plus years, during my years at Sidney Lanier High School, while attending the University of Georgia, and after relocating to Atlanta with his wife Nancy and their two sons, Guerry Jr. and Brayton. The local lore states that once you get Saint Simons Georgia Atlantic Coast sand in your shoes, like the tide, you will always come back again and again. Looks like for the Norwoods, this time is forever.
Guerry joined the Hodnett Cooper Real Estate team , following a wonderful thirty year career with BellSouth, where he had extensive experience in customer service, marketing, Internet sales, community and external affairs, and human resources. Guerry knows that excellent service is the key to exceeding his client's expectations. Guerry has been active in numerous church, civic, and charitable organizations, including Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, Slator Elementary School Mentoring Program, Executives for Egleston, Buckhead Youth Baseball, and Friends of Zoo Atlanta. After relocating to Saint Simons Guerry has joined the Saint Simons Island Rotary Club, Enclave Homeowners Association Board of Directors, Golden Isles Bulldog Club, the Coastal Georgia Historical Society, volunteer for the 2003 Coastal Living Idea House, volunteer UBS Cup official scorer and the Adopt-A-Wetland program. He is currently serving on the Government Affairs and Technology Committees for the Brunswick/Glynn county Board of Realtors.
Guerry has been married to Nancy Curry, who is originally from Atlanta, since 1975. They have two sons, Guerry Jr., who has recently graduated from the University of Georgia with a real estate major and will be seeking a career in real estate and Brayton Norwood who is a senior at Ole Miss majoring in business. Guerry Sr. received a Bachelors degree from the University of Georgia in 1974.
Like Guerry, Nancy also has been visiting Saint Simons Island her entire life. Nancy was in the educational field in Atlanta. After relocating to Saint Simons, Nancy developed an interest in real estate and now has teamed up with Guerry to form 'YOUR COASTAL GEORGIA TEAM'.
